Beavis cited in debt recovery letter - please help!

Would really appreciate some advice please.

My mother received a 'parking charge notice' from Parketing Ticketing Ltd, for parking in an Oaklands College car park where she is enrolled in and attends weekly art classes. For the first time ever she had genuinely forgotten to pay for and display a parking ticket which costs £1.10 for 5 hours parking (despite her only needing to park for two hours each week for her class).

Two months on, and not having paid the charge or responded to them, she has now received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd demanding payment of £149. In the letter they cite the 'landmark court decision' of the Beavis case on 4th November 2015.

They also say that if the charge is paid in the next week they will advise the creditor to take court action.

The demand for payment seems wholly excessive and unfair. The car park is always full of empty spaces.

Can anyone please offer advice on how to proceed with this. Should we ignore the letter or provide a response, or simply try to pay the excessive charge??

Thanks in advance,

    Welcome to the forum!

Look at other threads that say the same thing about the same silly letter.

So what, really? Sorry but loads of threads exist in January like this, all about this tedious letter - it's still only Debt Recovery Plus.

Already covered in the NEWBIES sticky thread post #4 but also try using 'search this forum' on the right above the sticky threads back on page one (just above the top thread) and put in 'Debt Recovery Beavis landmark'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Dear oh dear, forget the beavis case, its history and debt collectors are becoming so boring trying to scare people to extort money from them.
    As coupon-mad said, "SO WHAT"
It's only Debt Recovery Plus extorting money, they are complete idiots with no power.

The Newbies thread is the best start for you, takes a fair bit of reading but you will find your answer in the thread

Just to placate you, Debt Recovery Plus cannot
1: take you to court, that is confined to the PPC.
2: You will not get door collectors or bailiffs, if you do, you contact the police immediately
3: Some of these idiots say "it could create a problem for your credit rating .... rubbish, only a court can do that
3: Debt collectors are still behaving like plebs even mentioning the Beavis case ... it's history. For some odd reason the debt collector vermin have yet to grasp this, Debt Recovery Plus is just another money making scam ..... at least they try ?
