Norton Internet Security not responding

Just booted up the PC and it was running slow, particularly on the Guardian site (I still have adblocker enabled), so I thought I would have a look at Norton to see if it had updated/scanned recently, and I don't seem to be able to open it by double clicking the icon on the desktop or by single clicking on the bottom taskbar.
Does it sound like there is a problem, or is it possible that there is a Windows update going on in the background?

Sounds like a problem.
Mine is fine and I've just done a manual live update to check/confirm (win 7).
I'm still like you using the older Norton Internet Security base program rather than their newer Norton Security suite main program.
I think it went
Norton Internet Security 2012 edition - also called Version 19
Norton Internet Security 2013 edition - also called Version 20
Norton Internet Security Version 21
Norton Security Version 22

I can get in now and run a check, so it may have been an update. The PC is running a lot quicker now.
It makes you wonder what is going on behind the scenes.
