Definition of a partner for purposes of benefits

Whilst definitions vary, it's typically living as husband / wife and/or living as one household.
(i'm sure the official definitions are more complex)
Typically this means that you both live in the same property, that property is the main residence for both parties, that you expect to share your life (e.g. you go on holiday together), food is bought mutually and meals cooked as a collective.
Certainly other aspects include intimacy, financial dependence and or financial links.
What's the actual situation?
Example:
2 people who live together, share a child, but otherwise are completely independent and therefore are not a couple have been deemed as single
2 woman living together, 30 year age difference gap between two females
Share nothing at all
Both independent
No sexual relationship:A0 -

What do they consider their relationship to be? Housemates? A couple?
Cant comment on other benefits but tax credits would never ask about the sexual relationship. Lots of genuine couples don't have sex.0 -
Indeed, but ultimately, there decision will prevail unless challenge in court, and then the judge's decision will do. It will never be the claimant's view that will prevail if others don't agree. Hence in doubt, contact them and ask them for clarification. To me they intend to be separated permanently. My opinion no more or less valid than yours.0 -

Because since there is a mold issue in the only other bedroom we have to share the same room becuase the mold covers the walls and floor and even ruined the bed, the landlord ignores requests to fix many of the issues and I need to get the council involved in the disrepair
