    Thanks all posters for your advice, support, and encouragement. What concerns me is that had I not been a stroppy and difficult person, we could have ended up paying several hundred pounds. How many others have just gone along with it and not argued the case? I will be encouraging the local councillor to pursue how BCC deals with bereavement and to ensure that their policy is correctly and, as importantly, more sensitively implemented in the future.
