Domestic & General Insurance for Household Appliences

Hi,
I've got a policy on a tumble dryer with domestic and general. The dryer part required is obsolete and so I need a replacement.
I have not dealt with D&G before, and certainly dont want to again.
I was first offered a cheap replacement model, and refuesed. I was told I would be called about an alternative model. No call.
When I finally got through I was offered a better replacement but then caught out by smallprint stating I had to pay 60% towards it.
I went with that, and today find out the order hasnt gone through.
I was told its out of stock but when I checked it is instock!
then told they cannot get this model?! although they offered this model to me.
Please can anyone advise if there's some ombudsman/legal help to deal with these people
Thanks
Mark

You will find their complaints procedure set out somewhere in their documents - they may be selling you a maintenance warranty (as opposed to insurance) which won't be covered by the FOS, but they will have some other alternative dispute resolution route you can use once you have exhausted their complaints procedure should they not be covered as an "insurer"0
