pipe hole in worktop

I have recently had a new boiler fitted and to do so they had to drill a hole in my worktop, the hole is a bit bigger than the pipe that goes through it and as it is close to the sink I am concerned water will run underneath, I try and keep it as dry as I can but spills splashing etc happens.
it looks like a 20mm hole for 15mm pipe, looking at it i think that the gap is too big to put sealant around any suggestions of what I can use?

You could try packing it with wet newspaper torn up into little bits - basically papier mache ( or however you spell it !! ). Let it dry, then you can use ordinary silicone sealer over the top of it. Should do the trick ?0

You want a pipe collar http://m.screwfix.com/p/pipe-collar-15mm-white-pack-of-10/19706 can get Crome ones if that works for you.
Fill the hole with silicone then cover th mess with one of these0 -

You can also get them in black, solid wood etc., so shop around for something that will work well with your colour scheme.0 -
Get a piece of flexible foam pipe insulation to match the pipe diameter.

Cut a piece of that, to a length shorter than the depth of the worktop. Push it around the pipe, down into the hole, to below the top of the worktop. It should compress into the hole, if it's still too big, simply cut some foam off the outside in stages until it fits
Apply silicone sealant above it, level with the top of the worktop.
Apply decorative pipe collar as described above0 -
Clear silicone WILL do the job, that hole is not too big, that's pretty standard for clearance through a worktop.
Soapy water to make it look nice

Don't put wet newspaper in it! The chipboard will absorb water, swell and you'll have a big lump in your worktop.0

thanks all, i will try silicone first if that fails i can cover the mess up with a collar thing0

I would use a collar, sealed with clear silicone to the worktop. Shouldn't need to seal it to the pipe as the water won't make it in to the hole unless splashed there.
