Help! Barclay credit card transfer mistake theres not mine!

Hello fellow MoneySavers! :)

I wonder if any of you kind people would be able to help advise me with a bank mess up issue. I recently got accepted for a 0% Barclay Credit Card in October.

I needed to make transfers to 4 cards, which I put in a request to do online, then I waited about 2 weeks and it still hadn't gone through. So I retried again it didn't work. I then did it again still no joy. I decided to phone up Barclays to find out what was going on because I only had so long to get the transfers done otherwise the 0%offer period runs out. I got through to customer services I believe in India or somewhere, the customer service man I spoke to didn't have a clue when I asked him why the transfers hadn't gone through. He didn't seem to know and said it was my fault which I wasn't happy about, I then said I wanted to speak to his manager and got put on hold. It just kept ringing and ringing he then said his manager wasn't available so I asked to be transferred to customer services based in the United Kingdom which the man agreed to do straight away.
I got through to a lady from the fraud team who seemed to have more authority than the customer service team in India, whom explained to me the reason the transfers hadnt gone through was because I didn't answer the calls for the fraud check. I explained that I never received any calls or letters saying the transfers had failed and that I wasn't impressed with the communication I have received regarding the matter. She then said that there was several transfer amounts, I explained that I had done them more than once because I didn't think they had gone through.
Anyway this lady said she would cancel the previous ones and asked me my new amounts to be processed which I told her but when she submitted all my previous transfer amounts hadn't been cancelled. So I ended up with about 10 transfers being put through to 4 credit cards because she failed to double check they had been voided. My agreed limit for the card was £3400 the transfers put me over my limit which an amount of £6400!
The lady was extremely apologetic about the whole thing I was quite calm and relaxed about it as I understand mistakes happen. She said that they would give me a complimentary payment when this was resolved. This happened on 4th November, most of the transfers have been recalled but there is still 2 outstanding which I have informed the lady dealing with my complaint of on 8th January. She said they would try and rush it through but it takes time and depends if the other bank will accept.
Anyway I'm getting fed up with this now, I know transfers take time but this has been nearly 3 months now. I am unable to cancel 2 of my credit cards because one has an in credit balance of £500 and the other £800!! I'm not sure what to do, barclay card are expecting me to make payments on a balance that is above my limit. I told the lady I would only pay half the amount which she said ok and said it wouldn't affect my credit rating but I'm not convinced. Now because the issue is still going on I really don't want to pay them at all until it is resolved. Is there anyway I can threaten them to get it sorted out or make them pay me out for the hassle this has caused me? I just want this resolved but it's taking so long. I am also getting 2 automated calls a day telling me to make payments to my account which is really getting annoying.
I am planning to phone the lady dealing with my complaint in next few days but I just feel like I'm not getting anywhere. I am really regretting ever getting this Barclay card now as I have had nothing but hassle and terrible service run by clowns. I think I signed up for Faulty Towers credit card, the service is appalling! :(:(:mad:

Sorry if I've gone on a bit or some of it isn't clear. I've tried to explain it clearly.

Thank you

Felixtom

Raise it as a formal complaint which they have 8 weeks to resolve or you take it to ombudsman, and non flippant complaint that goes to the fos cost them £500 as well as looking bad on their statistics so that should concentrate their minds in resolving your issues.

Thank you for your replay bigadaj. How do I raise a formal complaint? Would I have to inform the lady I wish to do so and she will give me an address which I would write a letter saying they have 8 weeks to fix or I will take it to Ombudsman? It's a shame I didn't do this earlier as they may of resolved it by now. Still hopefully it will get them to pull their finger out!

    Thank you

And thank you stclair for the clarification :j

Just say you want to raise a formal co plaint when you speak to them, they have to record it and progress it. Obvoisouly make your own notes and revords as well, you may get a nervous response about not rising it formally and they will resolve etc etc but stick to your guns and you can then take it further given the timescales if they don't deal with it reasonably.
