Yes I can see its a combi-boiler.The Baxi Duotec 40 seems to offer a better flow rate of up to 16.4 litres per min. compared to up to 13.5 litres. I
would prefer the faster flow rate given the option. I suppose delivery of 16.4 litres would depend on my incoming mains flow rate & whether it could be boosted/improved?

I personally wouldn't get a combi boiler if you have the room for a system boiler and a vented/unvented tank as if it breaks down you won't have any hot water until it is fixed.

However, your as your showers are electric it won't be as bad, but can you have power showers with a combi?

10 litres per minute is no where near sufficient for a unvented cylinder. Even a combi is going to struggle at that rate

You will need to use stored water with a large tank/ pump I you want good flowing multiple showers.

Your average 3 bed 2 bath ideally needs 210l hot water to meet demand

  • As above, I would suggest your "experienced installer" hasn't got a scooby about what he's talking about, if you really do only have a incoming mains flow rate of 10 ltrs/min then neither a unvented cylinder or combi is going to be of any use to you & you will just be wasting your money, your existing power showers will either have a pump in them or be fed from a separate pump neither of which can be used with a unvented cylinder or a combi, you can buy a pump to fit in the incoming mains but this is expensive & is limited to 12 ltrs/min, your best solution is to maintain a roof tank get a cylinder to match the hot water required & replace the boiler with a system boiler (although this will mean your heating system & rads will be under pressure so you may have leaks).
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Thanks for moving thread. I am thinking I might keep my existing system and just replace hot water cylinder with a larger version. That at least will enable
me to refurbish en suite with existing power shower. Would this be a worthwhile investment? The existing boiler although old has recently had a new thermo -couple fitted and heats the water fairly quickly. What size cylinder does any one recommend to increase shower duration from 9 to say 15 minuites?
