My portfolio,,

Hi guys, I have 50k that is sitting in the bank that I want to invest, I have invested in the past and have a little experience,,,my wife and I have no debt , we are mortgage free and have an income of arround £1350 per month,,
I have selected 4 funds 2 of which I have used in the past and have performed very well,,,,,I invested through the "AXAwealth" platform , so I will use them again they charge 0.40% for their service.
MY FUNDS ARE.
F&Cmm Navigator distribution c acc.
Premier Pan European Property Share Fund c acc
Premier Ethical Fund c acc
Premier Multi !!! absolute Return c acc..
I was wondering what you think of this portfolio. I intend to spread the 50 k between these funds and leave them for a minimum of 5 years,, also am I right in thinking that to buy these funds now they, d be a lower price than to say a year ago??,,,, I also have a reasonably good pension that I will be taking in 4 years when I, ll be 60,,,, any thoughts or comments to reassure me would be welcome or any comments or advice would be very welcome,,,, many thanks,,,

forgot to say we, ve about 50 k that we, re keeping in cash for lifes little emergencies and holidays, ,,,

F&C navigator is a multi-asset fund where the fund manager decides what he considers to be the optimal allocation of a broad range of assets to provide a balanced portfolio within one fund. But you disagree with him as you have bought extra European Property. F&C Navigator already holds 7% Property.

And then you have an Ethical fund. Fine if you have strong ethics that match the fund. Ethical funds tend not to perform well compared with others in the same sector, but that may be a justifiable sacrifice to the people who chose them. What about the ethics of the other non-ethical funds you have invested in? Do they matter? Seems a little inconsistent.

The absolute return fund seems on the whole to be doing its job of not falling much when the restof the market falls. The return is low though.

You post gives a possible timeframe of 5 years. This is much too short a time for investing in anything other than the very safest investments if you dont want a risk of losing money.

Suggest you reconsider your timescale. If it is significantly more than 5 years you could in my view sensibly ditch your ethical and property funds and put the money into the F&C Navigator.

    Never set a time frame.

Things can change both quickly and slowly.

At least an annual review but keep a weather eye open always.

Sorry but I don't think that is a helpful suggestion.

If I want my assets in cash in 6 months time are you saying I should invest in equities anyway?

Having a time frame in mind for when you are likely to either need access to a lump sum or to start taking an income or whatever is one of the first things to do as you develop your approach surely?

Choices for someone investing with the idea of retiring in 30+ years time is different to my 6 month observation above surely?
