Bosch Washing Machine WAE24167GB

Hi
I'm hoping someone can help. I've got a Bosch Washing Machine WAE24167GB. At the end of the cycle it has an alarm which beeps a couple of times. It then beeps every minute for about ten minutes. I cannot see how to switch it off. The instruction book is useless and not clear at all and in fact the instructions are clearly not correct for this model.

I have to point out that this machine has no digital display. I say this because a lot of other Bosch models have display settings and I can only find instructions on how to switch the alarm off on those. But so far nothing on my machine.

I'm hoping someone can help because this alarm drives us mad.

Thanks

Switch off the machine using the switch on the front when the alarm sounds perhaps, I can't find a remote control that does that on google.

OK the according to the Manual https://portal.bsh-partner.com/TCcustomBSH/controller/download_file?PDFOBID=zimoWMfcdcso0pdmdb---4Rf&UMOBID=zimoWLccdcso0pdmdb---4Rf
Set the programme selector to the
    Off position. The appliance is
    switched off.

I've the same washing machine, turn the big knob to off as DCM says.

Alternatively use a sledge hammer however one may find this vastly impairs the devices ability to further function as a washing machine.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

Ha ha, yes a big hammer may well be the solution. I worded my first post badly. I know that turning the big knob will switch the sound off. What I'm after is how to turn the sound on the alarm indicator down to silent. From what I can see a lot of Bosch machines, with digital display, have the facility to turn the alarm indicator down to silent. My instruction manual indicates this is possible but the instructions given do not work.

I just want to be able to silence the indicator, before I do resort to the big hammer:D Maybe I'm just being lazy but our house is open plan and when the machine finishes you can't escape the noise of the alarm and I don't want to have to keep getting up and down to literally turn the knob off.

As previously mentioned, our machine does not have the digital display, which on other models displays the settings that enable you to turn the volume either down or off. Yet our instructions say it can be done but despite trying what it says, it doesn't seem to work.

It's either plan B (hammer) or open up the washing machine and disable the alarm sounder if you can't work out the settings on P19 of the manual.

You have to get up anyway to empty the machine, so if you turn it off at the same time you'll only be getting up once per wash. Doesn't sound like a lot of effort to me, unless your name is Jim Royle :j.
  • I also have a Bosch washer and I occasionally turn this on when going to bed so I get the benefit of cheap rate electricity (starts at midnight on the plan I'm on). I have a couple of doors between my bed and the washing machine so the end of cycle bleeping isn't a problem for me but this may not be the case for everyone.
  • Shaun, I think that's very true, if you can close some doors between you and the washing machine, the bleeping wouldn't be so annoying.

agrinnall, I'm certainly not a lazy Jim Royle person:D but most people wouldn't jump up and empty a machine the second it finishes. Especially if you were for example chilled out watching a movie on tv. With the open plan and the loud bleeping, it's more an annoyance than anything else. It bleeps a couple of times when it finishes and then every minute for up to about ten mins.

Overall, it's a great washing machine but if I'd realised about the bleeping and the fact it's hard to find out how to turn it to silent, I wouldn't have bought it.

    Debatable:p

How long does it take for someone to switch the machine off, you can empty it anytime at your convenience or alternatively chill out when the washing machine is not on.

Companies are often very good at responding to customers' enquiries through social media.

If you use Facebook, you could send Bosch a private message here

    https://www.facebook.com/BoschHomeUK/?fref=ts

I think the following is their Twitter page.

    https://twitter.com/BoschGlobal?lang=en-gb

With it being weekend the company may be a little slower to respond, but hopefully they should be able to help.

    Good luck
