Anyone switched to Nat West recently?

Just curious to know how others have found the application/ switching process with nat west.
We applied online last Thursday for a joint rewards account, the plan being to switch our bills account over from Santander. During the application it asked me to pick a preferred switch date - The first available date was 29/1/16 and I thought "great... Can switch in time for all my DDs being paid on 1st February".
However we have not heard a word since and, after ringing for an update, we have been told that they are unable to start the switch until our Nat west account is open (which of course makes sense) and that the nat west account can't be opened until we sign and return the signature slips that have been sent to us. The only problem is, we haven't received them yet!!
As a result we won't be switching on the 29th (or any time soon after by the look of it), which makes me kinda wonder why they even offered the 29th as a switch date in the first place. Seems rather pointless really.
Anyone able to share their experience of switching to nat west recently? Particularly interested in how long it took the signature slips to arrive.
