Trying to avoid early exit fees

I'm currently on a Cooperative Energy Fair and Square fix until 31st March 2016. I'm hoping to take advantage of the collective switch deal that is coming up, however the tariff I'm on has early exit fees of £30/fuel. I'm aware that you can switch early up to 50 days before, which means the earliest switch date would be the 10th February.
So, my question is, if I initiate a switch before then, but it doesn't go through until after, will I still have to pay the early exit fees?
Thanks

Hi. You have to wait until your supplier has notified you in writing that your switch is coming to an end. OFGEM requires suppliers to provide this notification in the period 49 to 42 days before your contract end date. If you apply to switch before receiving the notification or more than 42 days if a notification has not been received, then your supplier has the right to say that you have terminated the contract.
Your new contract starts on the day that your new supplier receives your application to switch not the day that the switch goes through. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
