Subwoofer

Hi, we've just bought a new TV with Soundbar and Subwoofer.

I've turned the Sub volume and bass to max and yet I can only hear it if I put my ear right on it. Shouldn't it be blowing the wax out?

Q: If the soundbar is at a comfortable volume, how loud/quiet should the Sub be?

  • Thank you DCM and FB for your replies, very funny, ha ha.

I had no idea how much info would be needed to answer my question... obviously not enough. So:

I'm a lady of a certain age and not good on modern technology, so I apologise for being stupid.
Knowhow delivered and installed the goods so I don't think they plugged the Sound Bar into the freezer.

    TV: Samsung UE40H6400 AKXXU
Sound Bar: Samsung HW-J450 W BW

Subwoofer connected to Sound Bar wirelessly so I presume it's Bluetooth or something.
Knowhow helpline said that the Subwoofer should only be background sound and yes, I can hear it, just, I can tell the difference when I unplug the Sub, but as it's on max volume I really thought it ought to be deafening.

    'Nuf info for ya!

Any help gratefully received, preferably without the sarcasm.

We're only pulling you leg and having a bit of fun ;)

Have you turned up the Woofer volume, also check band frequency settings ?

    See manual P9

I do note there is an update for it, no Idea what the update fixes or enhances as Samsung are very poor at disclosing what their updates do. You have to put this onto a USB stick and plug it into the unit.

NB I have the same TV but a different audio solution.

The sub should only really be a faint rumble most of the time. Even when listening to music, on a proper AV HiFi at least, the main speakers should cover most of the frequencies leaving the sub not doing much.
Put on a recent sci-fi movie up loud during an action scene. You should hear the sub. Unplug it. That noise you hear from it, feel from it, is all it does.
  • Thank you all for your advice. It seems that it is working 'correctly', I just expected something more. At least it's saved me having to return it. Thanks again.
