Hi guys
I am trying to claim ppi from the yorkshire bank from 20 yrs ago for my first loan and my second loan was about 15 yr ago. I no longer have any account details for the loans or my current accounts at the time. One of my current accounts which the bank closed because i refused to pay bank charges on it totalling over a cpl of hundred pounds due to an unpaid dd that wouldve taken my account overdrawn by approx 5-6p. But then was charged £35 unpaid direct debit fee and £7 a day over drawn plus £25 for a letter telling me so which didnt arrive until i was at least 4-5 days overdrawn. I have tried to get info from the bank but they deny all knowledge of me ever having an account with them even though i do have a savings account passbook from around that time and a debit card from a later account. Any ideas???

Banks destroy data over time (as they are required to do). Especially on closed accounts. So, it is not surprising data from 20 years ago no longer exists.
If you do not believe them, then you can spend £10 and do a data subject access request. That will tell you exactly what they have on their files after thorough search (more thorough than a call centre would look).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You could write to their PPI information request team in Glasgow address on the website. This dept hold loan details going back to 1998. I found the evidence for my PPI complaints with this bank by sending a SAR. It helped that I was still a customer. I managed to get hold of statements dating back to 1984. If you banked with them up to seven years ago there's a reasonable chance they'll still have your data.0
