New Build Unreasonable Delay

  • This isn't the first new build that I've bought so no I didn't find it ambitious, last time I bought one the completion date was actually brought forward.

As for buying the carpets before moving in, when you get the finishing touches through the developer it's quite common that you have to pay an element of it up front, in this case it was 30%.

Thank you for the advice giddypenguin - I've already had to extend the mortgage offer twice because of the delays to date. The house price increases are a good point...I need to be careful that I'm not just being stubborn

With respect that's a very different situation to the one you implied where it appeared you went out to a seperate carpet supplier! If you paid for them through the builder I'd certainly be wanting that cost back. Its not as if they'll have bought them yet. Its a damn cheek to be charging for those when the roof isn't on !

If house prices have increased you may have to grit your teeth and wait - if you pull out and buy another you'll either get less for your money or have to pay more. Sorry it's a rubbish time x
