How many NCB do I now have?

Had a bump 2 weeks ago whereby some idiot cut up a car travelling around a large roundabout then blocked a keep clear zone causing him to slam on & swerve into the adjacent lane that I was joining from an approach road. Due to the frosty greasy conditions that morning, and starting from a stationary position, the weight of my tank like car could not stop in time and slid into the side of him…..needless to say the unscathed idiot who caused the crash drove off into the sunset!!
My problem now is that I am a named driver on my mother’s insurance which is due shortly but the guy I went into has not made a claim yet so do I only put down the £3500 damage costs to my vehicle? Also I had 20 years unprotected NCB, regardless of fault does this now drop to 18 or lower? There used to be an industry standard of 5 years which dropped to 3, but each insurance firm seems to make up their own rules these days!!
Many thanks for any help in advance.

If you are claiming off your mother's policy then your NCD is not impacted. Just your driving history as you must notify your insurer of the (fault) claim.
Your mother will lose NCD over the claim (assuming she has some and it's unprotected)0 -
As above unless it was your car and therefore your policy in which case you will drop to 3 years NCD.0

No the accident was in my car on my insurance, so I assume I have to put 3 years NCD under my details on my mothers insurance?
Cheers in advance!0 -

Assuming this is correct;
1) Main insurance, in own name, on which accident occurred and was claimed for.
2) Mothers insurance: named driver no accident claimed for.
You would put whatever your insurance company says you have for your NCD. Ring them for confirmation, instead of guessing, as different insurance companies have different rules/process over NCD.0 -
How many years NCB you have isn't relevant to your mother's policy. Does it even ask?0

OK.
Then all your mother has to do is disclose your claim to her insurer (probably immediately - she should check her policy on when such changes should be notified), and include it in your history when applying for quotes.
Any NCD you have is irrelevant as far as being a named driver is concerned.0
