Ovo not accepting debt transfers

After reading that you could switch your supplier if you had a prepayment meter and provided any outstanding debt was less than £500, I decided to switch from British Gas to Ovo. Everything appeared to be running smoothly until I noticed that Ovo kept revising the supply date. I contacted Ovo, only to be told that British Gas were blocking the switch. However upon contacting British Gas, they advised they were not blocking it!!! So back I went to Ovo to try and solve the problem.
After speaking with an administrator at Ovo it would appear that Ovo are not accepting any debt transfers on their prepayment meters. Therefore it seems that I am stuck with British Gas until the current debt is repaid. That will take around 6 months!! Is there anything I can do?? Is it legal for Ovo to block debt transfers??

Yes, no supplier is obliged to take on debt, or take on a customer with a poor credit rating. However their poor communication should merit you a goodwill gesture of some kind, maybe £20?
You are allowed to leave BG with a debt of under £500, but that doesn't mean that another supplier has to accept you.No free lunch, and no free laptop
