Buying land next to house

Hi,
I have lived in my house for 13 years. There's a strip of land along the house and to the front which I have been looking after for all these years. I have found that the land is unregistered. Does anyone know how I can proceed to claim the land from here? I was quite confused about which forms need to be filled and, land registry weren't very helpful unfortunately.
Thank you in advance!

margotjennings - sorry to hear that we were not very helpful
Hopefully it was explained that the law surrounding the claiming of land is very complex and it is often advisable to seek legal advice before proceeding with such a claim.
I am sure we will have referred you to the Practice Guide 5 which G_M has kindly linked you to. The guide links you to the required forms and explains some of the essentials involved.
The key details you need to provide are the facts to support such a claim. Looking after the land for a period of time may not, on it's own, be sufficient but the guide and legal advice can help you on this point.
I suspect you have already read the guidance so the next step would be to seek legal help to separate out the key facts that might support any claim and to then add these to the form as appropriate.
I am afraid we cannot advise you on the law or how to word any supporting statement so any help we can give is largely restricted to the above and hopefully that is the advise we have already provided during any previous contact.“Official Company Representative
