No, you cannot get a contactless card with the Barclays basic bank account. You can however get a contactless card as standard with the nationwide flexbasic account, Nationwide's basic bank account

Thanks reason I ask is because soneone I know opened an account in the branch and was given a contactless card but someone else did it online and received a non contactless card for the basic account. So it's very confusing.

It won't be a basic bank account then, which used to be known as a cashcard accounts, unless it's the nationwide one!

No my brother has the old cash card account before it was renamed.

The card number starts 4658 59.

I have a Barclays basic account with a contactless card. They were available upon request to cashcard account holders, I can't say for the new basic account.

I also have a contactless card. Previously was the cashcard account, now has been renamed. I called up & asked for one.

I have cleaned Barclays cash card account now renamed Barclays basic bank account and I never got a contactless card with it!

Did you ask for one? if so, what was their reason for not giving you one - the evidence is they are available?

I asked for one for my current account and They said you would need a credit rating check!
