How Demotivated are you?

With the Demotivator tool as incentive, I've decided to see how Demotivated I can be! I'm going to start with one item I definitely don't need - say chocolate - and see how much I can save. I'll put it in a separate 'pot' and then spend it on something much better/help pay off my mortgage... haven't quite decided yet.
Anyone fancy joining me and see how much we can save in the next year?

Okay, I'm starting with three things (all food related as I'm also aiming to lose weight
):
Chocolate - £182.50/year or £8,212.50 total
Sainsbury's Chocolate Chunk cookies (mmm!) - £123.75/year or £5568.75
Alcohol - £1260/year or £56,700
Every time I manage not to buy them I'll put the money away and see how much of the yearly total I've saved by this time next year. I'll put them in my sig to help inspire me!The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Good luck with this challenge. OH & i have stopped buying newspapers, saving us £26.08 a month. Not really got much spare cash to join you,as throwing as much at our debts as we can. A few years ago my uncle & aunty did a similar thing. They both gave up smoking & put what they spent into a whiskey bottle, taking it to the bank every time they filled it. After 3 years they had 11k & bought a brand new car! Once again good luck.Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. I am doing a similar thing with my daily latte fix.....if I can resist, I pay £2.65 by online banking into a savings account that will go towards paying off a loan early. It certainly helps to focus the mind!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. I have decided that for every pound I lose (and indeed have already lost!) I am going to stick that money onto my CC to help pay that off. So that is £23.50 to go on to it as soon as I can!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Cool. I will give this a go. I am really bad at making packed lunches - always running out of time and just picking up sandwiches at work. So I will aim to always take a packed lunch (unless I am getting lunch provided at work - probably averages once a week). So 4x£2.50 = £10 a week = £520 a year. That should motivate me to make those sandwiches!0

Hi, Bails, what a wonderful idea. I just clicked on this as I feel utterly demotivated and was wondering what might pop up to inspire me - AND YOU DID!
Thank you
OK, I'll see if I can give up magazines and ice-cream - the latter very hard to do as we have one of Wales' foremost ice-cream makers in our town [awards and everything!]. I'll put the saved amount per month in my signature, if I can find any room.
Thank you for this.
DGIf you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!

Hi, Great idea. My downfalls are the odd bottle of wine in the week.
and going into town for a coffee when kids are all at school. Will have a go at cutting these out. Bottle of wine at the weekend and only have coffee out when meeting friends. Not that I'm always the first one to say lets do coffee;)
Good luck all Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

Hmm mine is having cider whilst having a pub lunch - if I cut that out I would a) save money and b) lose even more weight! So I pledge to cut mid-week pub ciders out!
