Care Parking fine, Sale Metrolink

Hi
Some advice please! I parked at Sale Metrolink back in the Summer and headed in to town for night out. I picked up my car the next day and found that I had been given a ticket. My issue is this. The sign says in big letters that it's free parking for Metrolink customers. As it was dark and raining and there was no lighting I couldn't see the rest of the sign but didn't worry- after all I was a customer and it was FREE! I received the PCN and appealed explaining the signage issue but to no avail. I then appealed to Popla but have received no response. I'm now receiving letters from a debt collection agency threatening to take me to court. The fine is currently at £160... for a free car park- it's money for old rope! My questions are: apart from paying, what are my options at this stage and how likely is it they will take me to court?

if you have an appeal in the POPLa system and you receive a debt collection letter whist this is taking place, a strong complaint to the BPA should stop the letters and get the PPC a *ollocking
DO IT!

You can safely ignore the debt collectors letters and await your POPLA outcome.
Only after hearing that you have lost your appeal will the question of being taken to court raise its head. Cross that bridge when it arises0 -
I then appealed to Popla but have received no response.
When? Which month?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
