Old Accounts on Credit File

Hi all,
I check my Noddle credit report just to see what's what and I've noticed there's a record on there which was last updated 12/2015 for T-Mobile (brought to you by EE) which was opened in 2006. I have no doubt that this was me as I used to have a T-Mobile phone contract but I haven't used T-Mobile in a good 3 - 4 years. I don't owe anything and it's all looking OK however I'm wondering whether it's worth me trying to get it closed off? Does it make much difference? Also, if it does, how do I go about doing it? I don't have any account numbers etc just my name and address; is it as simple as asking them to close anything related to 'me'?
Thank you in advance!

Depends how confident you are that they aren't going to mess something up!
I had an account with Vodafone in 2009, one of their (several) f-ups was that they sent me 2 sims - they fixed that but my credit report was always showing 2 accounts for them - one which I was using and the other was a 'ghost' one tracking at £0.
I got rid of Voda in 2011, and the account I was using showed the settled status on the right date; the ghost one however kept going until late 2015 :rotfl: before changing to settled.
Given my experience of Voda customer non-service and their seemingly endless ability to create problems out of thin air, I thought it safer to just ignore it as long as it was showing £0Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
If the EE account is showing as a £0 balance on your credit file then you should be able to get the status changed to 'settled; relatively easily because the credit file confirms nothing is owing. I would suggest writing/ emailing EE, with a copy of this page of your credit file and ask them to update the file and formally close the account (mar it as settled).
If they start to claim that money is owed then you should ask them for details of this and argue that the credit file has shown a £0 balance for sometime. Please note that if there is a balance showing on this account you will need to pay it in order to close/ settle the account. Hope that helps.
