I have been to Boston 3 times over the years- one of my favourite cities in the US along with New York & San Francisco- I love the fact that it has a lot more history to it than some other places I visited.

I have only been to Chicago once and found it to be OK but would like to go back to give it a 2nd chance. Reason being when I visited I had been travelling around the states for about a month by that stage and think I was getting a bit travel weary and not really appreciating the places I was visiting fully

I've visited both and loved both -lots to see and do in both but in November neither are going to be ideal for sightseeing weatherwise -but of the two Boston would be my preference -based on weather and the fact it's a more compact city. You could get snow in either city that early - although with the mad world weather the last couple of years...who knows.

Both have fantastic public transit , lots of history and great food but Chicago isn't called the windy city for nothing -for the time of year of the two Boston is likely to be better.

By all accounts it's not called the Windy City because of the weather-something to do with politics and a lot of hot air being spoken I believe?

You've never actually stood near the water in Chicago in the winter I gather :D

Open water plus lots of skyscrapers

Someone mentioned Chicago pizza- some of the best pizza I ever ate was in the Italian area of Boston .........but some of the best hot dogs are in Chicago :)

In Boston they say that the Italians run the restaurants while to Irish run the bars and everyone should be grateful that it's not the other way around!
