Kia Ceed dashboard change, will mileage reset?

Saw a 2011 Kia Ceed advertised on Autotrader. The Car is in good condition, but part of the dashboard is slightly protruding up just where the demisting blower is. The seller is getting this changed under warranty.

However, it is not very clear to me if changing the dashboard will reset the mileage counter?

The car has done around 50k miles, but I feel this will go down to 0 after the dash is changed and the car wil be difficult to sell later.

Does anyone have any similar experience?

  • I doubt very much they would replace the instruments as well as the dashboard itself, more likely just the plastics.

Changing the clocks or dash trim? The clocks will have the mileage and possibly the ECU also. As long as you keep receipts then issues like this are easily explained away to put buyers minds at rest.

    Keep receipts.

If it was that easy to reset mileage every dodgy dealer in the country would be doing it. The mileage is stored in numerous ECUs if any of them don't match it will trigger something called a manipulation light which should be hard to ignore, it won't just reset the clock. As above its very unlikely they will replace the instrument cluster with the dash

+1 on the above. Have had the dash changed on a couple of different cars - one Citroen had a staggering three new instrument clusters under warranty because the dealer couldn't sort out the computer glitches - and that was almost 15 years ago.

Each time the odometer read as normal. The value will be stored in multiple locations, so the new dashboard will just take on the 'correct' value once initialised. I'm sure Kia is no different.
