Gemporia only give 6 months guarantee - check t & c's b4 u buy

Options
I have brought many items from Gems TV, Gemporia over the past year, including a diamond ring for £200.00. 8 months after I brought I noticed a small diamond was missing from the shoulder. I assumed there would be a 12mths guarantee and my ring would be fixed. I checked their terms and conditions to discover they only give a 6mth guarantee! I rang them, in hope they would make an acceptation, as I've only worn the ring a few times. They refused saying their policy was a strict 6mths guarantee, even when I said I would no longer buy from them and I would write a review to inform future buyers to read their T's & C's before buying, they just reiterated their guarantee policy. I also told them that it does not say anywhere on their receipts that the guarantee is only for 6mths, which I think is unethical and unscrupulous, the person made no response to this and just reiterated there was nothing they could do.

So I am furious to discover this policy and I will never buy from Gems TV or Gemporia again, nor would I recommend them. At the end of the day you are better off buying from a high street brand, that has a normal guarantee of 12mths otherwise, like me, replacing a diamond (which is of very poor quality, never buy uncertified diamonds from Gemporia!) or any stone will cost more than what the ring or item is worth!

Also note you cannot post reviews on Gemporia or Gems TV products unless you go through their 'vetted' Feefo site, so it's difficult for people to post or see honest reviews on their products!

  • £200 is very cheap for a new diamond ring. It won't be made to last at that price. I'm not surprised that the quality of the stones was poor to be honest. It's in the costume jewellery league rather than anything better.

    Haven't bought from them in years. Don't actually like diamonds prefer colour. I always went by gold weight nothing under 1.95 grams.

    Their terms are on their website for faulty goods.

    7.2. If the Goods become faulty after 30 days but within six months of receipt, we will offer our choice of a refund, replacement or repair unless we, at our sole discretion, determine that the fault has arisen through misuse of the Goods.
  • what are you more furious with yourself for;

    buying naff jewellery from a tv channel, or not reading the T&Cs carefully enough?
