I'm trying to get into a healthy groove but when I'm woken by the kids at 5am all I want to do is easy buttery toast and lots of it!
I'm hoping you clever people and think of satisfying breakfasts that are quick to do or premake, just not hot porridge - yuk.

Mix up a bowl of fruit salad to keep in the fridge for dipping into?
You could make some sugar free oat-based breakfast bar type of things, with assorted fruit in them.
Basic weetabix with milk and a flat teaspoon of milk.0 -
I sometimes fill little clip-top Kilner jars with muesli and pour over a good glug of orange juice instead of milk. I leave these in the fridge overnight to soak up the juice and then put them in Mr CJ's packed lunch bag when he is on a stupidly early shift so he can have breakfast when he gets to work.0

It's personal preference really.I'm trying to get into a healthy groove but when I'm woken by the kids at 5am all I want to do is easy buttery toast and lots of it!

Eggs are quite nice and satisfying and can be cooked with little or no fat such as boiled. I really enjoy bacon and you can get some quite lean cuts to minimize the fat content.
I don't really like breakfast cereals that much at all. I've got Krave's in the cupboard but they didn't taste as I would have expected so they'll probably be binned eventually.
I've got porridge and only sometimes make it up. I might have that once a week. I add lots of sugar, jam or honey to it which isn't exactly healthy.:footie:

Here are some ideas:
Half a baguel with peanut butter and a banana
Greek yoghurt with a couple of tbsp of granola and a handful of frozen berries
Brown toast with half an avocado mashed on top
Chia breakfast jar - couple of tbsp of chia seeds, almond milk to cover, turns into a gelatinous pudding- leave overnight in the fridge and add a topping of fruit or nuts
Smoothies - I freeze bananas when they're getting too ripe and use them along with frozen berries (cheaper that way) and whatever else I have to hand - usually some almond milk and blitz up - if you have a blender that is.
Beans on toast
Scrambled egg with spinach
Pancakes with berries or banana and maple syrup0 -
Oats,
Or add a nice touch of Marmite to the toast!0 -
I am trying hard to lose some weight here and I am not a fan of brekkie but it is supposed to be good for you:o.
I have a slice of toast with a scraping of butter and something on.
Or a yoghurt.
Porridge when I have run out of things but I do have to have half a teaspoon of sugar on it.
Small portion of special K. I hope that helps0 -
How about a nice homemade fruit salad that you can keep in a screw top jar in the fridge with a spoon of creamy greek yoghurt and some scotch pancakes which you can make ahead and keep in a Tupperware in the fridge all topped off with a drizzle of maple syrup or runny honey, lots of energy in it as a meal and just an assembly job in the morning.0

Honestly, I think if you're up for food at 5am the easiest option is to make extra at dinner time and re-heat for a quick breakfast.I'm trying to get into a healthy groove but when I'm woken by the kids at 5am all I want to do is easy buttery toast and lots of it!

A bit of fat is fine, but try to avoid carb-laden dishes and you'll eat a lot less during the day. Then get in the cycle of having and early, light dinner if possible....and repeat!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I soak muesli overnight, yum, turns delicious. Can be warmed in the microwave a few seconds. I use water or almond milk but it would be milk for children0
