Post Office Platinum Card

Hello all

I have a tricky situation here and I wonder if I could get some suggestions or advice here please.

I used my Post Office Platinum credit card to buy a large mirror (1.8m x 1.1m) from a physical shop a week ago. The mirror was delivered to me few days ago and I was trying to put it up to a wall over the weekend. Unfortunately I cracked/damaged the bottom corner of the mirror accidentally. The mirror costs me £170. I was extremely upset about the damage. While I was putting myself together and planning to order another mirror, I discovered the Post Office Platinum Card came with a free purchase protection insurance cover, so I called the number and see if I could make a claim.

I have just spoken to the claim team half an hour ago, I was asked some general questions about the purchase, and one of the questions was if I brought the mirror home from the shop myself, I said no because of the size. Then the guy from the claim team told me I was not qualified for the claim. He said on the policy the cover excludes any items delivered by courier. But I said the mirror was delivered by the shop's own van and driver, not ParcelForce, UPS, Fedex, etc. And also, it is such a large mirror there is no way I could bring it back home myself. The guy agreed and added I could have damaged the mirror myself on the way home, but still he told me my claim would not be accepted.

So I asked him basically any large items that I cannot take home myself, such as armchair, LED TV, etc. these items would not be covered, he said that was correct. My instant reaction was, what is the point to have an accidental damage insurance cover then?

I have never made any accidental damage claim before, therefore I just wonder if what I was told by the guy from the claim team is correct, especially the part that the mirror was delivered to me by the shop's own van and driver is excluded to the cover.

Many thanks in advance!
