Unfortunately it is very hard to do anything if you paid by cheque. You could try your bank, although I wouldn't hold out much hope if more than a week or so has elapsed.

The unpaid dispute process through ebay doesn't usually turn up any decent results either, but make sure whatever you do that you report them as a non peforming seller.

Have you phoned the seller? Maybe there is a good reason for non receipt that can be sorted out by phone.

Hope it works out for you

hi Soo the seller is a "powerseller" and is still selling very expensive items!! he emailed me saying he has posted it but I have heard no more! I am not going to let him just £46 of my money! the geezer lives in Staffordshire so its not too far and my bro in law is a copper so perhaps I should ask him to visit. Reporting him won't get me my money!

Angel:- Why are you paying by cheque? You know you have no come back unless you use PayPal. This is not having a go I am just trying to understand your thinking on this one?

Hopefully if the seller is a powerseller they will be helpful and will have posted it correctly. What is the time frame?

I am not stupid, I pay everything Paypal, the methods he requested included cheque or PO, As he was a powerseller and 398 feedback only 2 negs that didn't look too bad I trusted him!

He is now saying I have to contact the Royal Mail if he sends me delivery details! the thing is items sent by post is only insured up to £28 which is why he isn't being too helpful - thats what I think! I think that if he wants to send delivery details he may have sent it, and it may have got mislaid as these things often do!! that isn't the point he is basically saying that it has been delivered!!! He doesn't live too far so I may go and open a can of Whop !!!!!! on him!icon12.gif

Well according to the dedicated ebay board sending something by recorded that is worth more than the £30 for which you are covered actually means there isn't any insurance to be claimed.

The post office use the wording 'for items uo to £30' to mean that if you try and claim £30 against an item worth more you actually get nothing. The only way round this is to get an invoice drawn up to support your claim that shows the item as exactly £30.00 and never mentions the fact that the item was actually worth more.

However, I think it is still up to the seller to make the claim against the post office, he will need information about how it was sent, whether stamps or a postal label was used and what the package looked like.

Also, and sorry Angel, I would have to agree with Hintza about not trusting cheques. It makes no difference to me whether the seller is a power seller or not, if the item gets lost in the post you have no leverage at all with the seller.
