Also, in the OP he talks about stopping payments altogether for 9 months on his current cards, so assuming he managed to lie and obtain a card(s) how would he finance the minimum repayments each month?

I did a money transfer before starting the course and set the money aside into a pot, using it to pay the minimums (including for the money transfer itself). It was hairy, month by month seeing my balances rise, my minimums rise and the pot heading downwards. As far as the CCs were concerned, everything was fine... indeed I continued to get promo offers and could have done another money transfer to meet minimums if need be. During this time, I had an excellent rating on Experian - how little they knew! As I say, I did get a part-time job (which I hadn't built into my figures) so in the event did not need all the finance I planned for. Hopefully as an intending teacher, the OP can do the maths to work the numbers.

As you say, if the OP's current situation isn't great then getting more credit now could be tricky.

OP Such life events require financial planning. As already suggested you probably need to remain in work for a year or so longer and get rid of your debts. If you decide otherwise you risk a downward financial spiral that will take years to recover from.

2 months ago looking for a consolidation loan, now this?

OP you need to get real about your debts IMO. Post on the DFW board and start living within your means and get rid of your debts.
