Peugeot not starting

We have a Peugeot 308 Diesel. Went to start it this morning as usual, to go to work, and no joy.

Keyfob unlocked the doors OK. With key in the ignition, the usual lights come on the dash, no error messages at all. But when I turn the key nothing happens. Someone suggested disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, which I did, but it has made no difference.

When the key is turned, the only sound is a single click from the glove box.

Have tried several times and nothing seems to work. There is no second key, so I can't try that. Is it likely to be the immobiliser, or something else?

Try turning in the headlights and then try to start it.

If the lights dim then it is a battery problem.

Another thing to try is use the spare key to try and start it in case there is an issue with the key communicating with the vehicle.

Though your best bet is to retain AA or RAC cover for such instances.

    No second key to try.

OP as bigjl says call whoever your breakdown cover is with.

If it's not a battery problem, 2 things come to mind. Starter motor or glow plug.

It sounds like the battery is dead. I have had this. There was enough juice to light the dash up and make the starter solenoid move (the click you hear) but not enough to start. A new battery fixed it.

Sounds like my son's 307. A new battery fixed that too.

If the battery goes flat on some Peugeot's it's a tow to the dealers to get the computer reset after fitting a new battery of course.
