CCJ Negotiation

Hi, I was wondering whether it is possible to negotiate with the courts to reduce the amount of your CCJ, I currently owe £1119.00 in the form of a CCJ and could probably afford to pay off about half of it, would I be able to negotiate to get the amount I owe reduced or not?

I'm pretty sure you can't no, but someone will clarify I'm sure. It may be possible to agree a settlement with the creditor, but at would be at their discretion, and I'm not even sure that's possible once a CCJ is given.0

There's no negotiation. The debt is owed to the creditor not the court. Offer a payment plan with a lump sum up front.0

Can you go back to the creditor to offer a settlement figure or ask the court to go to the creditor, or is it a plain and simple 'pay what you owe'?0

You negotiate with the creditor.
There is nothing preventing you and the creditor negotiating the settlement of the debt/CCJ for a reduced amount. It's just that the CCJ gives the creditor a strong bargaining position. Then again, CCJs can be hard or even impossible to enforce in many cases, and if it's clear you'll never be able to pay it in full in a reasonable time then creditors may see it's best for them to negotiate.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
