Orbit Homes Housing Estate - New Parking Regulations - How to fight?

Do you have anything in writing? It just seems to be quite a U-Turn (but a good thing if they've caved into the pressure already - much easier to prevent them starting, than to get rid of them later).0
-
Nothing in writing yet I'm afraid, all spoken over the phone. I'll await the promised letter and upload a copy when/if available tonight.0
-
I've heard the same - and have a copy of the letter back too.
I'll post when I'm confirmed its ok to post.
I may well send the email anyway...0 -
I sent the email. Here's the reply I've been forwarded (not in response to my own)...
I believe it's public domain as it seems to have come from a neighbourhood watch type group...
Northampton Parking Management were bought in to enforce parking at Booth Park in order to improve both the safety and appearance of the development. Residents have previously been parking on the grassy areas, as well as the pavements which at times has blocked the road, making access impossible for larger vehicles, such as the emergency services and the bin truck.
On reflection we have decided to remove the enforcement due to the mixed tenure status of the estate and the lack of clearly designated parking spaces. The confusion over who can park where has caused some issues and so the decision has been made to remove all enforcement until such time as a fair and transparent system can be implemented. Residents will still be expected not to block access or park inconsiderately.
Whilst needing to tackle the parking issues for safety and access reasons, the housing team wants to create the best solution for all customers, so welcomes feedback or suggestions on how it could work in the future - please send any further comments directly through to Mark Jones at (number removed).
Regards,
IF (and it's a big if) this is what it seems, and NPM have been forcibly removed already this is a fantastic victory. I'll await more info, and don't think thread was in any way part of the decision - it appears there was another group also getting militant about things
People power?0 -
That does read as though people power has removed PPC before they could even begin!
WELL DONE ALL THE RESIDENTS WHO MUST HAVE COMPLAINED.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Leaves them the option to bring something else in, once they upgrade the markings for the parking spaces. I'd reply to that telling them that in no uncertain terms a system cannot be fair and transparent when run by a private company who only make money from issuing tickets, which can be ignored with impunity by the residents and visitors anyway.
I don't know what the actual solution is - bollards where they don't want cars parking? Self ticketing?0 -
To be fair, parking is a bit dodgy there. As I said - people have 2 cars and 1 space. Not rocket science to work out there might be a problem.
However, there are also sensible unmarked places to park throughout the estate. It just didn't make sense to bring in a PPC.
Herz.... I think I will reply with pretty much that. PPC on a private housing estate is wrong.0 -
That might just do it!0

^ Here is a pic of the signs.
As awful as these signs are when on a retail park etc, imagine the land around your house being covered by this crap
Feel bad for them!
If it had gone ahead, would the signs have needed the necessary planning permission to have been erected on the estate ?0
