RBS - only one statement

I had an RBS Advanta card around 1997 to 2006. I have only one statement that I can find with PPI. Theyve admitted liability and made an offer but have asked that I sign away any future claim if I accept their offer. Is this legal? Iain Dunn

Yes it is legal and is normal for all complaints.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
  • They have offered you a "full and final" settlement. Of course it's legal.

If you were to subsequently find (documentary) evidence that they've somehow underpaid you, then there would be nothing to stop you asking them to re-open the complaint.

Why do you think you might be due more than they have offered? Have they said their own records are incomplete?
  • Hi
Yes they have said their records are incomplete. My concern is that acceptance means I cannot go back and claim when I find the other statements.
    Iain with thanks!!

If and when you find statements which clearly show you paid more than they are currently offering then, as already stated, you can submit the evidence and have the case re-opened.If you find nothing, then this remains a "full and final" response from the bank.
  • Im with you - thanks very much! Iain
