Permanent Health Insurance

Does anyone know anything about PHI (Permanent Health Insurance). I am an employee with Carpal Tunnel, RSI and Tenosynovitis and work are applying for me to go on PHI. I don't really know that much about it. They said that they cannot promise that I will get accepted, but they are putting me forward and I've completed the first form. I haven't been able to work since July and have been paid from July up until today, but from now it stops.
So can anyone tell me anything about it i.e. how long does it take to come through/what makes them not accept you etc.
Thanks for your help in advance.

PHI is another name for Income Protection.
for info read http://www.find.co.uk/insurance/Income_Protection_Guide/
I gather from what you say the firm already has a "group" scheme in place to which you are a member , and they have put a claim in. (rather than applying for you to join- bit late!)
Whilst Group business is not my thing
Does your contract say you sickpay ( excluding SSP) end after these 2/3 months?
are they saying they will pay you, only if they get paid?
(if as I assume a group scheme - the policy is actually theirs)
The time to wait/ process/ exclusions will depend on how the scheme was set up.
Depending on size / % of payroll in the group scheme - schemes do not always require each member to initially be "underwritten" on health groundsAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
