Barclaycard - not showing balance as paid in full each month

Hi all

I have a Barclaycard which I pay off in full each and every month. However on inspecting the Experian and Equifax files, they seem to record me as only having partially paid the balance in full in 7 of the last 13 months, i.e. the payment amount for any month is less than the previous statement balance for that same month and the previous month balance.

In three months this difference amounts to £5, the other 4 vary between £86 - £605.

I'm therefore minded to challenge this with Barclaycard, however as my Experian Score (ironically, provided free by Barclaycard!) is high (>980), I'm wondering whether this is a quirk specific to Barclaycard (as it doesn't show up on my other credit cards) - does anyone else have this issue with B'card and ignore it?

If not, and it's not impacting my credit score, may I even be better off leaving it unaltered so as to display to future lenders a degree of potential profitability on their part?

Thoughts appreciated

I have similar on my Cap1 and MBNA. Sometimes the payment is greater than the statement as well. Do you often have refunds as I believe how they are handled can skew the payment figure. I don't think a slight difference in the figures will have a negative affect on your history.
  • Thanks.

The payment has never been greater, but I do sometimes have refunds (though no more than 3 in the last 12 months I would've thought.

Your balance isn't your statement balance but the balance you owe when the data is reported.

Both "balance history" and "statement balance" figures are shown on Noddle and "statement balance" on Equifax
