I echo others in saying check out Home Bargains (if you have one nearby) or B&M. I have gotten scoops (think its set of 3) for 99p and they clear wedding ones so go with anyone's theme. I got gorgeous big old fashioned looking sweet jars that are glass for about £2 I think as well. Loads of people go to charity shops and buy glass bottles from there.

I have budgeted about £50 on mine max, am making a cupcake bouquet (tree) myself and some fudge (easy to make) and macaroons and petit fours (basically french fancies) but you can buy all these cheap anyway like french fancies. I just plan to buy sweets from either amazon or the supermarkets. A bag of marshmallows is like what £1. No point going over the top really, especially if your having more adults than children some of it may go to waste. I am having my cake in the middle of my candy table as well to make it look fuller. I will open the sweet bar after we cut the cake (I wouldn't want people filling up on sweets before there 3 course meal anyway). Am just going to use the wedding cake table the venue supply and hiring a rose gold sequin table cover.
  • Wasn't for a wedding (Engagement Party) but I could not part with the £300 for a sweetie table either! I got all my jars off eBay, they were plastic but didn't look horribly cheap, (I also didn't like the idea of glass around the kids) they cost me £18.75 that included 50 bags (choice of colour) a scoop and tongs. I got all the sweets and more I needed from macro for £35.
It was a real hit with all the guests. If its for a wedding you might want a few more jars and bowls you can easily get all of them on eBay, but I would certainly go to a cash and carry type place for the sweets. We got all the classic sweet shop sweets in 1/2kg boxes for around £3/4.
  • I have bought my sweets now.

I went to Bookers in the end. Sweets came to about £60 (minus VAT) and I got:

    3kg Giant Haribo Cola Bottles
    3kg Haribo Bears
    3kg Haribo yellow bellies
    3kg Swizzlers Variety Mix
    1.6kg skittles
    A tub of foam shrimp
    A tub of foam bananas
A tub of pink and white chocolate mice
A tub of milk chocolate discs
A tub of white chocolate discs
    A box of 80 flumps

Hopefully that will be enough :)
