Sending money abroad - £pound to Euro

I have happily been using Transferwise, for years now. I did have at one point to provide ID, never got a call back from an agent, though (?)
Both Transferwise as well as Currencyfair are totally fine to use, no scam involved ;-)0 -
I guess 'local settlement' means that no international transfer is involved/needed.
E.g. some UK brokers don't have a bank account in the country in question and a customer either have to pay for an international transfer when sending money either to UK or from UK.
So do you think it's better to use an broker that also has an account in the country in which I want to send money?
I guess in theory at least this will lessen the chances of the beneficiary bank adding on international receipt charges at that end, right?0 -

regular transfers CAD to GBP - just an example.0 -
Thanks for all the responses.
Though one thing I do find strange is that some of these brokers were asking for everything outside 'the moon on a stick' - uploads of passports, utility bills etc. etc.
Yet another just needed an address and account no.0
