? Fraud by Energy Company
I am having issues follwoing a meter exchange 16 months ago getting the meter serial number updated on the national database.
I have informed my previous suppliers about the issues, but one of them has gone back through and changed all the previous bills, so there is no evidence of the previous issue with the serial number.
Is this allowed?

What did you want them to do?
You haven't explained your 'issues' or how the serial No affects those issues.0 -
Apologies for this! The previous billing and payments were for imperial units which was the old meter. I left them with a balance of zero. However when updated to metric units I should have been in credit. They have now changed all previous bills therefore I have no evidence to prove other wise.0

So are they now pursuing you for an apparently unpaid balance? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You have presumably left the energy supplier with whom you are in dispute?
Since the meter exchange - from Imperial to metric -16 months ago you contend that they have been billing you for approx. 33kWh per gas unit used instead of approx. 11.2kWh. e.g. had you used 100 gas units you should have paid for approx. 1,120kWh but instead you have been billed for approx. 3,300kWh.
What do you mean by 'changing all the previous bills'?
To me it is quite straight forward. They will know how many gas units you used from the time the meter was changed to the time you moved to a new supplier. From this number of gas units they can easily work out how many kWh you would have used, and how many kWh were on your bills.
Of course if you were in debt on the account they would deduct that from the amount you were owed.
You need to post more details - meter readings and kWh charged - and you can name the company.0 -
Yes I left Scottish Power over 12 months ago.
All the previous bills on my online account have now been changed to reflect my new meter serial number so I don't have evidence to show my previous spend. They also say that they only have on file a bill from July 2014 but I joined them in November 2013.
I was in credit to them by £559.61 in December 2014 but it was refunded when I left the company.
According the one bill I have it says:
17 units= 543.92KWh (on imperial meter) No cost of this usage detailed on bill
589 units= 6615.29 KWh costing £235.110 -
So they have charged you for 17 Imperial gas units and then 589 Metric gas units. The cost per kWh for both should be exactly the same at 3.55p/kWh
Is the date, at the end of the period you were charged for Imperial gas units, the same date as the meter was changed?0
