Redundancy and notice

I am asking this on behalf f a friend who lives and works in the UK but she is not English and having issues about things she has been told at work. Her workplace is closing down and last week was told she will be made redundant on 25 March. She has been told her notice period is 8 weeks.

1. My understanding is that so long as she does not leave before 25/3 she will be paid (statutory) redundancy pay, but if she finds a job and leave now she will not, is this correct?

2. If she stays till 25/3 will she receive stat redundancy AND still have 8 weeks paid work?

3. If she found another job starting 26/3 would she receive stat redundancy AND pay in lieu of notice, or would the notice pay be negotiable?

There is no workplace union or manager on site who seems able to answer these and other questions, can anyone supply a number I could call? (I have free landline calls to UK). Have tried CAB but unsurprisingly their telephone service is not available in my area (France)

    3 key things will be

How long has she worked there?

Have they officialy put her on termination of employment due to redundancy or when do they plan to do this?

how many people are involved in the redundancy

They should have explained the package nd the time line but sometime this get overlooked or they are not ready to do this as they are still in consultation.

The magic number is 20+ for statutory consultation of 30 days

the second thing is the notice is statutory notice so once a termination date is given then there is a windo for counternotice to ensure redundancy payment.

Often employers have a reputation for playing fair or not so that is worth establishing.

if they want to keep everyone till the last day a common stratagy is to issue termination notices and terminate with PILON same day.

then it depends on the employer how they deal with people that get jobs before that.

Often best to keep any early offers under wraps(don't tell anyone).

So it sounds like she will not be paid redundancy and lieu of notice if she finds another job?.
she should also not mention it if she does until paid redundancy, and arrange a start date after 25/3
