Trace & Access Cover

Hi All just wondering if anyone has had an insurance claim rejected for trace and access of a leak under floorboards as the water from the leak did not cause any damage? We are now stuck with the trace and access bill, bill for new flooring and beading and also fitting. Any help would be great.

In my experience, this is correct - most policies include trace and access to find the source of "any damage" to the property. If there is no damage, there is usually no claim.

and it usually states to the effect any "insured damage".

    Who are you insured with?

My experience is different, in that trace and access covers for the cost of removing the buildings to find and/or access a leak. If there is no leak, then there is no pay out, but if there is a leak then there will be a pay out.

I guess it depends on who your insurer is, and what the policy wording states under this section of cover.

Did you buy a product which included trace & access cover?

If you didn't you've insured against damage caused by the leak, but not against finding, fixing and making good.

Some insurers removed T&A cover in the "drive to the bottom" so their premiums would be lower.
