Not sure of where to post this. I have booked a STA travel tour (Accommodation and tour- but not flights) which was booked and paid for last week. However me and my partner have since parted ways and no longer wish to holiday together, I have asked the STA company of what options i have of replacing my partners place with someone else or simply cancelling. All options will incur a 50% refund only. I don't want to have to lose out on this amount of money. Is there any other option out there that wont cause as much harm to my wallet?

If your partner isn't going, surely any loss will be down to him/her?0

Get the person who is going with you to change their name by deed pole and get a passport in that name?
Otherwise it is all down to their terms and conditions.0 -
The cheapest option would be to make up with your friend.0

If it doesn't include flights will they really know the name of the other person on the tour?travelover0

I know when you book a tour with STA they want full details of everyone travelling, including full passport info, emergency contact name and number for everyone, along with whether you've got any pre existing medical conditions which could affect your ability to participate. Given all that I doubt you could just substitute one person for another.0 -
Yes, the other person will incur the cancelation fees, however i also do not want to travel alone so i will end up cancelling too.0

If someone else goes with you couldn't your ex and the other person split the 50% loss. If you look at it as money, I think that makes it easier, the trip is say £1000, your ex paid a £500 deposit, if he cancels he is going to lose £250. If a friend takes his place it will cost £250 to change the name if they then give the ex £375 they are saving £125 and ex is getting £375 back instead of £250. Sounds complicated but I assume that is how it would work.
I am assuming that it is a 50% refund of the 50% deposit but the same principle would apply if it was 50% of the full cost.Sell £1500

I agree with posters who said that if you choose not to go (alone or otherwise) then you have to pay the fee. Is this what you've wanted to know all along?
It's just that your partner (who you've spilt with) doesn't go then they lose money too but that's no longer your problem.
So, I can see why you're considering asking someone else so that you don't need to travel alone but I wouldn't worry about your ex losing money. You'll be doing them a favour if you find someone to stand in. What you 'charge' the other person is up to them but anything above the cancellation fee is a bonus.0
