Direct debit payments on blocked debit card?

Hello all,

My debit card has been blocked due to unauthorised activity. This is being dealt with by the bank but until I get my new card (which will be ~2 weeks as it it being delivered to my parents house who are away on holiday) I obviously can't make any payments. I have several direct debits set up, will these go through normally even though the card is blocked? I've already had an email from NowTV saying my payment couldn't be taken but this is just a recurring payment not a direct debit so not sure if that's the same... I don't want to risk any late payment fees or take a hit on my credit rating!

Thanks

Direct debits are set up using your sort code and account number, not your debit card number.

Why could that payment not be taken? Did you not have enough money in your account? Has your account been blocked?

The debit card has been blocked/cancelled due to "unauthorised activity", according to the OP. The NowTV payment was a CPA on the debit card, not a direct debit. That's how I read it anyway.

I guess it wouldn't be a CPA, rather a recurring cardholder not present transaction. CPA's generally persist even when you report your card lost or stolen and it is replaced.
