Reload Internet Explorer?

Does anyone know how to install/reload internet explorer?
IE on my PC constantly crashes when I try to go from one page to another, so it is completely useless.
I have gone into control panel > add or remove programs > add/remove windows components > then unticked internet explorer etc which appears to work ok, but then when I try to re-install it either using the add/remove section again, or the original windows XP CD, the same problem re-appears when I try to use the program - it doesn't seem to be re-reading the program from the CD as the CD doesn't whirr and the light doesn't come on, so I think it is merely disabling the program rather than actually removing it, so that it reinstates the faulty version again rather than installing a new version.
Anyone any ideas? I have tried to use it to instal a different browser (firefox), but it crashes so I can't even use a browser to get other programs off the internet.

If more than one browser is crashing on your machine, it suggests that you have other problems to sort out. No info given about OS or versions, anti-virus, anti-spyware etc. etc. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

No, only one browser loaded on it - IE version 6
It is Windows XP home edition with Windows Live One Care installed, no other anti-virus, spyware, firewall, etc. Just a very simple set up really, straight out of the box.0 -
So why have you not updated to IE7 then? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
