PPI advice

Hello,

I'm after some advice please. Back in 2004 my husband and I bought a kitchen, unfortunately we cannot remember the name of the company (but I have a feeling it no longer exists) or find the paperwork.

We took out finance with the kitchen company, which was provided by Black Horse. We were told at the time that PPI was compulsory!

Do I have any hope of claiming anything back without any paperwork? Literally all I know is that it was 2005 and with black Horse, I have no account numbers or anything?

Should I just write this one off?

  • You say both that it was 2004 and that it was 2005.

If the business you bought it from has gone bust, this is significant as the Financial Services Compensation Scheme can only consider cases from 14 January 2005.

However, if you cannot remember who you need to complain to it sounds like a non-starter anyway.

I don't really understand how it works. Would I need to complain to the kitchen company? Or to Black Horse who the finance was with and who the PPI was paid to?

The kitchen was fitted Jan 2005 which means the contract would have been signed in 2004.

Regulation started in January 2005. So, if you bought it in 2004, its pre-regulation. If you bought it in 2005 then it is after regulation.

Its the date that the contract is signed that matters.

You would complain to the seller. In this case, the kitchen supplier. However, expect to get knocked back as being pre-regulation.

  • We took out a loan for a kitchen round about the same time it was with Space Kitchens and our loan was with Blackhorse, we was told the same thing about having to have the PPI, we put our claim in with Black horse and was awarded over £3000 back so maybe try going straight to them the might still have records of your loan.

Was this before January 2005 or after?
