Barclaycard Initial: how long to reduce APR and increase credit limit?
Comments

I got an increase 3 months after having the card from 600 to 1400.
but I went over my limit a while ago so I've ruined my relationship with them.
I never thought they decreased APRs on the initial, I thought people just took out one of their other ones. but I don't care for the APR anyway.*~* Valued Opinions - £40; Quidco - £92.77; Lightspeed Panel - £40; My Survey - £20; Consumer Pulse - £190; Toluna - £44; Ciao - £42.47; GfK - £50; Pigsback - £20; ABAi - £10; Panelbase - £10.45 ; Grassroots - £50 *~* Blue Text = Account now closed

After 12 months I called them and they reduced the interest from 34.9 to 26.9. They said I can call back every 12 months and reduce it by a further 8% down to the minimum. When I called I think it was 8.9% Apr they can go down to. I have always paid the balance in full before the due date.
If you pay interest or miss a payment then maybe that stops the interest rate going down?0 -
I got limit increases every 3 months over the course of a year from £250 upto £1200, at the 12 month point apr was decreased by about 4% I think, but still pretty high, have just been accepted for a mbna card with £3000 limit and lower apr though.0

I opened mine last august got letter/email I think to say limit is going up from £1,200 to £1,600 and did try message them about upgrade to Cash back Credit card but they said they can't do it at the moment... so will wait another few months until I ask again..0

I got the Barclaycard Initial card in early November.
My APR on the card is 34.9% and my credit limit is £400. When will these be changed?[STRIKE] I would like to at some point buy a phone so I am considering using my card but not at 34.9% and the credit limit will be too low anyhow.[/STRIKE]
How long does it normally take for things to improve and how long will it take my credit score (I know a fairly useless indicator but I am still curious) to increase?
Just curious... I'm thinking of applying for this card and I'm worried about getting rejected. What is your general credit situation like? Good? Bad? Average?
If it's not too personal of a question, that is!

You can use the eligibility checker to see if you are likely to be accepted. I was with one old settled default - everything else on my credit record was in good order, I just didn't have any real credit accounts aside from my mortgage and car insurance being reported so got this to give myself a fuller credit file0 -

Yep, I'm in a similar position. I've only got one settled default which expires in June with very little credit on my file. The only potential issue I have is that I'm currently registered at my old address on the electoral register and my new address is on all my bills etc. I've updated my new council with my new address and it will come into effect on 1st March. I think that might be messing up the eligibility checker because it is saying there is a problem.
Not sure if it's worth waiting until I get that sorted out...
Anyway, didn't mean to hijack this thread :j0 -
I can get a 20+ month 0% purchase offer with Halifax (my bank) and they've said I'm likely to be accepted. Is it better to wait and get that later or does it not make much difference getting it straight away?0

If they will let you have it that's a much better deal than he Barclaycard so take it and stop spending on the Barclaycard0

Will it still build my credit rating as much as the Barclaycard?0
