Worth closing them or just leaving them be? not sure if the long standing accounts have any effect on Credit Ratings etc
Presumably since you've upgraded the current account you're talking about the old savings accounts? These have no influence on credit ratings.

Yeah I have an E-Savings and a Regular Savings account which have been open and un-used for years! thinking of just cleaning them out with the Close account option in the Online website if they can be closed Online that is.

So I have closed the E-Savings account online. The Regular Savings account I have to send a form in to close.

I have also opened the Flexclusive Regular Saver online!

This feels like a very productive day on MSE for a Sunday :)

    Thanks to all involved.

When we opened Flex Direct accounts we kept the original Flex account - basically we used the Flex Direct accounts as savings accounts, kept 2500 in them and did standing orders to bounce £1000 from flex to flex direct and back again (if you are worried about not having a big enough balance left in the flex account do the bounce the otherway - ie Flex direct to flex and then back again)

Nationwide current accounts need external funding; bouncing £1000 from flex to FlexDirect and back will not work, according to their current terms.

    Doh - sorry about that

Yes you do need to meet the T&C and external funding is a pretty common requirement.
