why do you expect to be able to get BT wifi (using their fon outlets) for free?
either become a fon member (buy and setup a fon outlet) or pay BT
I am a fon member as I have a fon unit plugged into my router , providing a fon signal to passing people , and in return I can use my fon password to access other BT/FON outlets for FREESave a Rachael

Perhaps you should read what the OP said ... she said she IS getting BT Fon for free despite not being a BT customer.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -

anyone can connect to a BT/FON wifi point , HOWEVER you have to enter
1: BT loggin details
2: fonera details
or
c: pay by the hour or day
I did read the post , I also looked back at " BT wifi with fon " and read that to be BT hosted by fon , as in a FON hotspot , exactly like I am creating
so yes the OP can get fon , but will not get past the start page until a: or b: or c: takes placeSave a Rachael

What is the exact SSID that you see? Anybody can connect to a Fon AP. You should only get as far as the landing page where you will need to login though.
If you are getting full internet access through an AP with a FON name and without logging in I'd be concerned that it is a fake hotspot harvesting passwords.
If you can get full access with no login is that just through the one hotspot or all of them?0 -
Don't BT have a scheme with other providers where you give over a sliver of your router and in return get BT Wifi? I'm sure I read it somewhere. :cool:0

yes as mentioned in my first post , you set up a "fonera" unit , this creates a hotspot around your house for other BT users to use , in return you are given a user name and password that allows you to use any BT/fon in the UK .
the OP says she is getting "free" BT/fon , so I cannot add anything moreSave a Rachael
