Tablet stopped connecting to wifi

I've had my tablet for quite a while and never had any problem with wifi.
I was using it yesterday and it lost the connection. I've not been able to get it back on.
It shows the list of available networks and mine shows as either 'authentication problem' or, after I've clicked on 'connect' it shows as 'saved, secured with WPA'. If I click on 'forget' and then key the password in and 'connect' it just puts me back to square one.
Wifi is fine on my laptop and mobile so I'm completely stumped.
I'm 99.9% sure that I'm using the correct password but will double check that.
Any advice would be really appreciated.

go to your laptop / network and sharing/wifi/properties/security/click on show password and try that on your tablet
plan b: set your mobile up as a hotspot and see if you can connect
plan c: find a local friend and try his wifiSave a Rachael

Doh!
Was using the wrong password - I was using the password for my Sky account, rather than the Wifi password.
Still doesn't explain why it disconnected in the first place but it's back anyway.
Thanks everybody.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

Think we crossposted! I texted my son to ask what the wifi password is and then realised it's on the router!
I did try to set up my mobile as a hotspot last night and had problems. Didn't persevere because I was worried in case I forgot to disconnect it and ended up going over my data allowance on my phone.3 stone down, 3 more to go0
