lucky escape

:D

Just logged into my private account as I have things finishing throughout the day, and found 3 messages from the same person all sent a few minutes apart.

Item just finished at 11.20, the first message from A was about 15 minutes before that and asked about damage to my item. I had stated this was old and mentioned some cosmetic damage which was difficult to see in the photos. 'A' queried the damage, said that it looked perfect to him and he needed this desperately for his collection and if it was damaged could I do anything about the price as it was a bit steep. He also asked a lot of other questions that were already fully covered in the description.

The 2nd question was about 5 minutes later and came across as him being irritated and in a temper, apparently as I couldn't be bothered to respond to him he had decided to bid anyway on the basis we could sort out the issue of the price with regard damage 'later', and he was very cross that his bid was not allowed due to my settings. He went on to say he had a few unpaid strikes due to awful sellers not giving him a chance to pay and not cancelling a sale when he legitimately changed his mind. It was NOT HIS FAULT and I should have allowed his bid if I had bothered to read his email.

Item sold with a slight bidding flurry at end and the third message is again quite aggressive asking how we are going to resolve the issue of his bid not being allowed due to me not bothering to respond to questions. He seems under the impression that he is in some way entitled to have this item.

He's obviously blocked and I have reported him to ebay as well.

Oh- and my winning bidder looks great and has already paid!

The mind boggles, although i have spotted listings late and messaged the seller in a hope they maybe at their computer i do not expect it.

Never been blocked by a seller so no idea what that feels like.

I wonder if they wanted to haggle you down to half their bid price after
winning and then complain because you didnt send it for a pre purchase
inspection where they decide if its worth paying you or not.

Did they have much feedback or been on ebay long?

Around 150 feedback with about the same left- but quite a few worrying positives that thank the seller for their help with an issue. That would be a red flag for me as many sellers will do everything for a buyer to avoid poor feedback and some buyers then come to expect sellers to discount or such like as a regular thing.

Is this one for the blocked list or will that reveal your identity?

I'd rather not post an ID as we are not supposed to name and shame really, and there is a way of finding out a sellers ID with a bit of digging and although it is just my private account I'd rather not run the risk of another stalker.

I've just had another lucky escape. Had a best offer in on one of my business listings, it was reasonable so I was going to accept but just had a quick look at feedback left for others.

They have 5 feedback and have left 6 feedback- 3 of which were negs! One just said item was overly expensive and 2 refer to being overcharged for a small 2nd class parcel , one feedback says they paid £3 and the other £3.20 which I don't think warrants a neg. My item is free postage but it is a teeny weeny miniscule item and I'm nt risking being told it was too expensive!

Thank heavens we can see the feedback buyers leave, it is really the only useful feedback tool.

If you supply tea and bikkies im at a loose end and can be your personal stalker :)

Maybe i should start a stalker vetting service? They will carry a card with a rating system from safe to lock your doors and dial 999 now.

Joking aside, I imagine there are many nutters on ebay, maybe they are given free accounts on being released back into the community from their padded room?

I know how easy it can be to find data on the internet, I used to be on AOL in the early days and so many people putting personal data into their profiles.
One person was being a PITA in a chat room so i did a little digging and found just 2 people in the area they put both very close so i assume related.

So i mention a few names and a little more digging finds neighbours who applied for planning permission, one right next door. That freaked them out enough to stop being a PITA.

Oddly millions of people now give all this information away freely? on Facebook etc. Madness.

Then you get some people that accidently post their details to public forums. Copying letters etc. Even though i consider myself very careful i have almost done that myself. About to post a letter with my details edited out and spotted my name and address in the letter itself..
