All phones have 2G/3G/4G, so why don't all laptops? (!!)

The Title says it all!
Why do you need a dongle or phone-pairing when it should be so easy/cheap to include the hardware to do this?

Because it's technology most of us don't need or want in our laptops?

Well my phone does not have 4G, and 3G is effectively unuseable where I live. Anyway a local 4G service does not exist at all even if I had a phone that could use it.0

On that, I disagree with you!
One of the major advantages of a laptop should be that it can be used almost "anywhere" - but without 2G/3G/3G access it can't!
If all you want is to use It connected to your home
WiFi then get a decent/ cheap desktop which will be a lot more capable and long-lived (and better longterm value!)0 -
Most peeps don't want to pay for another data plan!0

Good point, but Giffgaff only costs £5 for 1/2 Gig data a month - and I have this on my tablet, so I am not at risk when I take this away from home.
Maybe, then, my question should have been : why don't most tablets have this?0 -
Because it's extra cost that most people don't want to pay?
Those who want get MiFi that can be used with any device(s).0 -

again, because the majority of consumers would use a phone if being connected to the net ALL the time, rather than lug a tab/lappy around with them.
Let's face it, there's really no need to be on the net 24/7 while you're out and about...........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
If you can tether then why pay for a separate plan?0
